In response to the ongoing healthcare crisis, the Kemptville Health & Wellness Centre is taking a proactive step to support women's health in the community. Recognizing the challenges faced by those without a family physician, the Centre is offering a PAP Day Clinic, focusing on providing Pap tests, a critical preventative care measure for women's health.
The Pap test, also known as a Pap smear, is a procedure that tests for cervical cancer in women. The importance of regular Pap tests cannot be overstated, as they are one of the most reliable and effective screening tests available. The early detection of abnormal cells in the cervix means that treatment can be started earlier, which is often key to a better outcome.
Dr. Xie, a (female) physician at the Kemptville Health & Wellness Centre, will be conducting the Pap tests. The clinic emphasizes that this service is specifically for those who have not had a Pap test in the last three years and are currently without a family physician, as these tests are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) under these conditions.
It's important to note that the appointment is exclusively for the Pap test and is not an opportunity to address other healthcare concerns or to become a regular patient of the Centre. This focused approach ensures that the clinic can provide this essential service to as many women as possible during the event.
The Kemptville Health & Wellness Centre's initiative is a commendable example of how healthcare providers can adapt to meet the needs of their communities, especially in times of crisis. By facilitating access to life-saving preventative care, they are not only helping individual women but also contributing to the broader goal of improving public health outcomes.
Women in need of this service are encouraged to seize this opportunity and book an appointment for the upcoming PAP Day Clinic. It's a step that could have a significant impact on their health journey. Spots are limited , please book now. Call our office today at 613-319-9988 and press 7 to be directed to our Community Pap Day booking line.
Taking action today could make a difference for your tomorrow.

Dear Patients,
Starting October 1,2024, KHWC will no longer provide allergy injections to our patients. Although we have been offering this service at a loss to benefit you, we have decided to discontinue this service after lengthy discussions with our Physicians and team. We understand that this change may be unexpected and inconvenient for you. Unfortunately, due to the increasing expenses of operating a family medicine clinic and inadequate government support, we are unable to sustain this service any longer.
Thank you,
Kemptville Health & Wellness Centre
Dear Patients,
We hope you're all doing well. We've got some important news to share with regarding our clinic.
Our wonderful Physician Assistant, Emma, is about to embark on an exciting journey- she's off on maternity leave starting May 15,2024 for a full year! We're absolutely thrilled for her and wish her nothing but the best as she takes this special time to welcome her new addition.
Emma has been an incredible part of our team, providing exceptional care to each and every one of you. Needless to say, her absence will be deeply felt during this time.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing crisis and financial constraint in family medicine, we are unable to bring in a temporary replacement while Emma is away. It's frustrating, we know, but unlike some healthcare settings, we don't receive government funding to support our allied health team.
However, we're committed to ensuring continuity of care for our patients. Both Dr. Xie and Dr. Morgan will be stepping up to cover all appointments and follow-ups previously handled by Emma. Both physicians will be extending their clinic hours and adding more appointment slots. We understand that this may result in longer wait times for appointments, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Additionally, for urgent matters, we would like to remind you of our same day and urgent care appointment hours. These appointments are booked on the same day on a first-come, first-serve basis Monday to Thursday, 5-8 pm and Saturday from 9am to 12 pm. These appointments are reserved for urgent issues and not non urgent follow up appointments. Our staff reserves the right to triage appointment booking accordingly.
Thank you all for your understanding and patience as we navigate this transition period. Your health and well-being remain our top priority, and we're dedicated to providing you with the best care possible during this time of primary care crisis.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out our office.
Warm regards,
Dr. Keith Morgan and Dr. Jinchao Xie
